New Chief of Staff at Scripps Encinitas

Anesthesiologist Randall Goskowicz, MD, was recently elected chief of staff by physicians at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas. He took over the hospital’s medical staff of 921 members on 1 January.

During his two-year term, Goskowicz will serve as the medical staff liaison to the Scripps Encinitas administrative staff and Scripps Health board of trustees and play a key role in driving continuous quality improvement at the 187-bed hospital, which delivers healthcare services to more . than 87,000 patients per year.

“At Scripps Encinitas, we were a very collegial group that always supported our team members. It is an honor and a privilege to lead this fine group of clinicians,” said Goskowicz.

He succeeds outgoing chief of staff Alexie Nguyen, M.D.

“For over twenty years, Dr. Goskowicz makes a difference to the Scripps Encinitas medical staff,” said Carl Etter, senior vice president and regional chief executive of Scripps hospitals in North County. “He will provide strong leadership as we continue major modernization projects while offering the highest level of care to all of our patients.”

Goskowicz said his top priorities are the continued development of Scripps Encinitas into a regional center of excellence and the ongoing effort to attract top clinical staff to optimize the hospital as a significant community resource.

“We aim to manage challenging cases as a matter of routine, never forgetting that every patient who comes into contact with us has the potential to be life-changing,” he said. “We intend to provide excellent care to all patients regardless of the members of the care team, the needs of the patient or the time of day. This is the hospital where we call our own family.”
