In Encinitas, the Rotary Club is seeking nominations for a Senior Citizen of the Year

Nominations are open for the 2022 Encinitas Senior Citizen of the Year Award, sponsored by the city’s Senior Citizens Commission and the Rotary Club of Encinitas.

Encinitas residents can nominate candidates for the award between Feb. 1 and March 16, which aims to honor seniors in the community who have demonstrated outstanding volunteerism, advocacy and leadership. , among other attributes, over the past year, according to a city announcement.

In addition to the Senior Citizen of the Year Award, the city and Rotary Club are seeking nominations for a Lifetime Achievement Award, which considers service to the Encinitas community over the years.

Winners will be celebrated at a meeting of the Encinitas City Council and an award plaque will be displayed at the city’s senior center. They will also be guests of honor at a meeting of the Rotary Club of Encinitas and will be invited to be a special guest of the Senior Citizens Commission in the city’s Holiday Parade.

Members of the Senior Citizens Commission are not eligible to make nominations.
