Thieves grabbed the camera and stole a trailer from Encinitas’ house
Couple of stolen Encinitas women, it’s livelihood and business.
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. – Thieves run out with a trailer full of jewelry in Encinitas. Heist them, caught on Ring security cameras. But jewelry is someone else’s business. His livelihood. And now it is gone.
Anna Laurel of CBS8 spoke with Andrea Edington who said, when the trailer was stolen, his life stopped.
Edington has been selling jewelry for many years. She says, “I’ve always done pop up sales. I’m old school.”
If you’ve been to farmers markets or street festivals around San Diego, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Edington and her jewelry. He sells Tigers Eye, Blue Turquoise, Jasper, Montana Agate, Green Amethyst, Opal, Garnet. And because he does all the personal sales, his inventory is usually with him. She says, “It went from the trailer to the house to the storage unit and just so it happened Sunday, I was flat with migraines. It was all left in the trailer.”
Shortly before 1am early Wednesday morning, trucks drove past Edington’s home. Ringna’s camera picked up. Suddenly, the truck came back. This time, it somehow hitched Edington’s trailer up there and drove off. We saw a video with him of the truck he was driving – his life there. She says, “How dare they do that? It takes a lot of nerve.”
The trailer was full of thousands of Sterling Silver rings, precious stone bracelets and earrings. Police reports indicate equipment and jewelry were stolen for $ 143,000. Insurance will cover around $ 20,000.
She says, “It put me in a big bind, I don’t have money on. I lost my income.” The income she says recently took after COVID.
She says, “I’ve had my best days and I’m like, oh my gosh. I’m going to promote things that are going to get out of debt.”
Now hope was gone. He said, “He is in the arms of God you know.”
Edington’s friends put together a GoFundMe page to try to help him.
