Encinitas Coastal Rotary is donating $ 4,555 to Shades of Pink California from the Purse Bingo Event
The Encinitas Coastal Rotary Club recently donated $ 4,555 to the Shades of Pink Foundation California (SOPFCA), a local charity that provides temporary monetary assistance to women who are suffering financially due to a diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
National breast cancer organizations tend to focus on research and access to health care. The goal of SOPFCA is less comprehensive and more responsive to the immediate financial needs of women undergoing breast cancer treatment. The organization of all volunteers ensures that 100 percent of donations remain local to help women in San Diego County. Through SOPFCA grant and gift card programs, SOPFCA helps alleviate the financial burdens of women facing breast cancer by being able to focus on treatment and healing. About 80 percent of SOPFCA grant beneficiaries are single or heads of households. Beneficiaries of the grant range from 29 to 84 years of age, with an average age of 50. This means that many women who have to go into retirement instead are plagued with this terrible diagnosis that results in a treatment that can cost them financially and physically.
